Festival del Nazareno (Black Christ Festival) Artist Retreat Accepting Applications:
Come experience the energy and atmosphere of the 2010 Festival del Nazareno (also known as the Black Christ Festival).
Participants will have the opportunity to make their manda - an offering to El Nazareno - by joining pilgrims on the road Maria Chiquita to Portobelo, a roughly five hour walk. This retreat is especially well suited to photographers, who will have the opportunity to explore the transformation of Portobelo from sleepy bayside town, to densly packed festival full of religious fervor and secular amusements.
